Notes. Reference sheet for Grind Sizes (Take it with a grain of salt, since the grinder is not perfectly aligned, circa - 0.1.0 clicks as of 15/10/2024).

How I write my settings

I usually write the 1ZPresso setting as x.y.z where:

  • x is the number of complete round trip I’ve made on the dial. In the photo, when the 0 goes from the left selection dot, does a round trip and passes it again, you increment x by 1;
  • y is the number selected right now on the dial by the left selection dot;
  • z is the number of “lesser clicks” done. Since between y, and y + 1 there are only three possible clicks, z goes from 1 to 3, where 1 si the first click, two is the middle click, and three is the last possible click before changing y.

What is shown in photo is a 1.6.1 settings. Sadly from the dial alone it’s impossible to know the x settings, so usually when I need to change settings I have to reset it to 0.0.0 and then set my desired grind size.

N.B.: as of 21/10/2024, the 0.0.0 isn’t properly set, I am around -0.1.0 clicks behind what’s shown. AKA if I fully close my grinder, the selection dot isn’t on the 0, but on the 9. So my grind settings are actually around 0.1.0 clicks more than what they should be.

Adjusting by Taste!

Of course, I adjust my grind size by taste, but I keep notes of the clicks setting I use in my recipe to waste as little as coffee as I can during dialing-in phases of new batch of coffee that I’ve already bought in the past.
